KYC Spider Whitepaper

Between the end of 2026 and January 2028, the FATF will assess Switzerland for the fifth time. The focus is on how effectively anti-money laundering measures work in practice. As a result, adverse media screening, the systematic search for negative media reports about clients, is becoming significantly more important.

Although the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) does not explicitly require adverse media screening, it follows from the due diligence obligations and is named as a means of clarification in the FINMA Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance (AMLO-FINMA). FINMA proceedings such as those against Rothschild and Julius Bär show what happens when known allegations are ignored.

Our white paper provides a concise overview of the regulatory framework, FINMA and MROS practice, and typical challenges, complemented by practical do's and don'ts. It also shows how the EDD Assistant in the KYC Spider Toolbox creates a multilingual, source-based, time-stamped report within minutes.
